Restoration of SX 28.
A little history....This SX 28 was the receiver used by a crystal manufacturing
company during World War II. The company was located in Griffin, Georgia, the town I grew
up in. I knew a couple of the old timers around Griffin who worked there. A friend of mine,
Mac, N4CGS, gave me the radio and told me that it had been used in the crystal company
to check out crystals. Since that time it had been stored away, apparently in a barn. It was
very dirty, but everything was there. I have since restored it, including replacing all the
capacitors in the RF deck, which is a real challenge. It sounds wonderful. And it is nice
to get it back to its rightful working condition.
